A few years back I was quite disappointed by the bids I received from other fence installers, their lack of follow up, and general lack of professionalism. That all changed when I found Hill Country Fence and Ranch. They did a great job of fencing our small acreage and installing the gates and opener. Even my "perfectionist contractor" neighbor complimented them on the job they did. Over the years I've had 2 problems with the key pad for the gate opener and they've done a great job of taking care of such a small issue even though I live far from their current office. I'm glad I found them and strongly recommend them for fence and gate work.

Our 25 year-old pipe fence was a rusty mess and the fencing fabric was misshapen and unattractive, so I removed the old fabric and spent weeks grinding, priming, and painting the pipe. I obtained 4 estimates to install new fence fabric on the refurbished pipe. HCF&R's proposal was second-lowest in price, but I had seen the quality of their work at a neighbor's property and let the contract to HCF&R. Herman and his partner completed the installation in 6-7 hours and I couldn't be happier with their work. Had I done the work, it would have taken much longer and would not have looked as sharp as their installation. On two shorter segments of the fence, they opted to weld cattle panels in place instead of bending the fence around the corners. In some places where the fencing would have been a couple of inches too tall for the pipe rail, they trenched under it so that the fit would be perfect. Now, instead of the ugliest fence on the street, ours is one of the best-looking, no doubt increasing my neighbors' property values. :)

This is the third time we used Hill Country Fence & Ranch to build a fence for us. This was our biggest project yet. We built a perimeter fence around our 3+ acre property, as well as a solar electric powered gate. The result was a beautiful, well-built fence. There was a nice paint job, as well as creative solutions such as use of cow panel to get around a blocking tree. The work was performed efficiently and clean-up was thorough when completed. Very pleased with how our project turned out. We called Hill Country Fence to construct a wooden privacy fence on an existing patio. There were some challenges with leveling, bracing due to the existing patio structure and I had some very specific requirements and specs. My fence needed replacing so I contacted at least 3 businesses for quotes. Hill Country Fence and Ranch came out within a few days to give me an assessment. They advised that I did not need to get new posts since they were in good shape which I really appreciated. We went with the cedar fencing and also installed an additional gate to make it easier for my lawn service to get into the backyard. I can't say enough good things about this company. The crew of Brandon, Martin and Josh were great and did such a fantastic job. They were so polite and professional and worked very hard to get this done in just 2 days. We called Hill Country Fence and Ranch at the beginning of April to ask if someone could come and give us an estimate for the work we wanted to have done. Tyler came out the very next day, a Friday, and by the beginning of the following week we had the estimate. After some thought, we decided to drop an item from the initial proposal to save a little money, got back to him, and he immediately sent a new estimate for our review. In our case, we needed to have a survey done and, once we had this taken care of, we got back in touch with Tyler to let him know we were good to go. We were then added to their schedule and were sent a link that we could use to monitor where we were in the queue. The list was continuously updated as work progressed on the many jobs ahead of us. The work on our project started on July 9 and ran for three days straight. The projected start was for a couple of weeks earlier, but that would have coincided with a trip we had out the country and we wanted to be around during the actual work in case there were any issues that arose. On Day One, a three-man crew with materials and equipment arrived punctually and got immediately to work tearing down the old split-rail and privacy fencing, loading it up for hauling off, beginning to drill the holes for the posts, and getting a start on erecting the new cedar split rail. On Day Two, the crew delivered galvanized steel posts and brackets, plus the cedar pickets for the 6' privacy fence. One crew member began work on installing the privacy fence, while the other two continued installing the split rail. All fence posts, metal and wood, were installed in concrete. On Day Three, work continued on both the privacy fence and split rail until completion. The crew worked extremely hard throughout the project in high heat and humidity and did an excellent job. Several neighbors have already commented on how beautiful the new fencing looks. We will certainly recommend Hill Country Fence and Ranch to anyone we hear of looking to have this type of work done

This was our second experience with Hill Country Fence and Ranch, and it was again an excellent one.  Previously, Tyler and Ryan, a couple of young, energetic, amiable guys who have built their own enterprise from zero, had installed a cattle guard and a short section of pipe fence.  The work was done skillfully, on time, with respect to surrounding property, and at a reasonable price. This time, they installed a heavy duty security gate with accompanying power unit, over 500 feet of double level pipe fencing with heavy mesh overlay, and another approximately 500 feet of 5-strand barbed wire.  The gate required a concrete foundation across the road. Pipe supports were sunk deeply with concrete reinforcement, welded reinforcements were done neatly, caps were placed on all pipes without asking, the choice of mesh overlay is of high quality, and the barbed wire section is generously supported with frequent T posts and strung as tight as banjo wire.  They had to do extensive clearing of really dense brush, and preserved good trees where possible, at truly trivial expense. The fence line is straight as an arrow. Everyone involved (concrete guys, Cody the gate guy, etc) was amiable, courteous, and careful with cleanup. They did all they could to minimize inconvenience for the family going in and out as the project was underway.  They stayed true to their timetable despite inclement weather – these guys were working in the rain! Pricing was perfectly fair, and we felt like we received a lot of value for the expense. Terms were more than fair. These guys obviously take pride in their work, care about customer satisfaction and their reputation, and are gentlemanly in all their interactions – how commonly does one see this these days?  I will be happy to answer any additional questions a prospective customer might have, and would be happy to show off the result.

We received three estimates; Hill Country Fence and Ranch was not only the lowest price but they also offered superior product (actual fence material - high tinsel strength, Fixed Knot fencing). One estimate was for $4,000 higher cost, the other was $6,000 higher and wanted to start MUCH later and would take three weeks to install!

Tyler and Ryan kept is up to date as to progress and delays. We were always very well informed at every step. Dealing with true professionals is a real pleasure!

Hill Country Fence and Ranch not only has the right equipment, they also have hard working, experienced personnel. They were courteous, efficient and knowledgeable. They were friendly and left NO mess behind. I don't know if it's important to you, but all were US citizens and local to the area. That's rare in South Texas.

Would I recommend Hill Country Fence and Ranch to a friend or neighbor? They are the ONLY company I would recommend to anyone! Even above doing it yourself. If you don't have the right equipment, enough people helping you, what they did in 5 working days would be impossible for a person and a friend or neighbor to do in two or three weeks. Even our neighbors love our new fence.

Hill Country Fence and Ranch replaced perimeter fencing around our 6 acre plot (a bit under 1/2 mile of fence) and built and installed a new gate; also moved our old gate opener to the new gate. We went from a four foot fence and gate (that leaned) to a five foot fence and gate (that doesn't lean). We wend from one of the worst fences in the area to the best.

Ryan and Tyler (owners) gave us exactly what we envisioned for the fencing around our 3-acre property.  We wanted low maintenance, didn't want to paint the fence every couple of years, wanted to keep the dog in and critters & deer out, wanted an elegant front fence line, and and flexibility for moving around the property with scattered gates. Ryan and Tyler explained the choices and cost of materials and the maintenance requirements of each.  Before we signed the contract we knew that galvanized fencing and posts were the most expensive option as was the decorative front fence panels with a 20-year guarantee on the powder-coated finish.  The 12-foot powder-coated sliding gate they would build to match the decorative front fence panels would also be costly due to the height and size of the gate.  After we coughed up a lung at the total price, we looked at the cost to paint the fence every couple of years vs going with quality products from the beginning and decided to bite the bullet from the start vs paying to have the fence painted periodically. The adage you get what you pay for holds true in this case.

The project took about 2 months to complete due to persistent rains, the lead-time on ordering the decorative fence panels, and allowing the concrete for the posts to harden before moving to the next step.  The work crews were professional and worked h****** the project.  Every little detail was attended to - from the type of latches on the various gates to closing up any small gaps where corner posts met to adding additional braces to make the fence strong for the long-haul.  We had initial glitches with the driveway gate operations and Ryan and Tyler were quick to resolve the issues.

Overall, we are extremely happy with Hill Country Fence and Ranch.  The company is run by two very talented young men who know how to get things done.  They take pride in doing quality work.

"Where do I start? Like others, I requested quotes from several local fencing companies. Hill Country Fence and Ranch (HCFR) was the only company to provide a written estimate, not to mention delivers it within about 1 day of my request.

I ultimately decided to give these guys a chance with about 1,900 feet of fencing and gate work, even though I didn't know anything about them other than what others had said about their work on their website. Kind of risky but the comments really seemed to address all of my concerns.

These guys are very sharp and consummate professionals. After providing Ryan with a map of the property and general idea of the fencing configuration, I only talked to him on the phone 1 time and that was to tell him where to get water from. In fact, to this day I have never even met any of the guys in person. My son was there to oversee the project and answer any questions but they didn’t have any.

I'll have to say this was one of the only times that I can remember releasing a crew to do ~$6,000 worth of work without wearing them down on the phone with excessive questions and assurances.

Finally, they told me they would start on a given date (which was about a month away) and by God they showed up on that day. Not around that date but on that date. They told me it would take no more than 3-4 days and got it done in 2. They worked from sun up to sun down. No excuses, no complaints, no cutting corners.

I highly recommend HCFR and will be giving them some additional projects in the coming months. However, I should have negotiated the price before I said all this stuff."

"My sons Scott, Doug and I recently contracted Hill Country Fence & Ranch to do an extensive cross fencing project on approximately 65 acres of our Ranch in Giddings, Texas. There were old fences that needed to be removed and new fence lines to be cleared.

The first task, after removing the old fences and clearing the new fence lines was to design and construct a new entry at the main road into the property. We wanted something different, yet appealing to the landscape. We decided on an 18 " diameter timber arch way that would proudly display the "Good Life Ranch" entry sign. Ryan and Tyler located these timbers in Louisiana and brought them to the property for fabrication and installation. There was a cattle guard and a custom designed, remote control operated gate fabricated and installed, that proudly displayed the GLR brand. Each side of the entry, from the main fence to the arch way and gate was lined with a 3 stringer, 6 " diameter wooden timber fence. The old fence in the front of the property was removed and replaced with a new five strand bob wire fence with cedar posts. to provide the entry way the final touch.

The plans was to divide the 65 acres into three sections that would accommodate a new pasture for cattle and horses, a new hay meadow and an area around the house and barn that would protect a spring fed/fish stocked pond from the livestock. This required two additional arch ways, two cattle guards and several gates. These arch ways were fabricated from 12 " diameter timbers that really distinguished separation of one section of the property from the other. The cross fences were five strand bob wire with metal posts.

A  2 " x 6 ", four stringer treated lumber holding pen was built at the barn for use with the cattle and horses. The cross fence between the house and barn and the hay meadow is a 2 " x 6 ", three stringer with a flat top rail treated lumber fence, extending from the barn to the third entry. This provides us with a very nice view of the hay meadow and livestock from the windows in the house. There were several additional locations where 6 " diameter, two stringer cedar fence sections were constructed to help capture the ranch appeal, while complimenting the hill country landscape.

The project started and finished in approximately five weeks. Ryan, Tyler and crew stayed on the property during the week to insure that the schedule was met. They returned back and fourth to San Antonio on weekends to fabricate the cattle guards and gates and spend time with family.

After the long drought and the rains returned, there was some settlement of posts that caused gate and bob wire issues. We made a call and within a few days the guys were on the property making the required repairs to satisfy our concerns. It was evident that they stood behind the quality of their work.

My sons and I are extremely pleased with the professional job that Hill Country Fence and Ranch provided. We recommend and challenge you to give these guys a shot, no matter how big or how small your project may be. We have plans at the GLR for future projects and are satisfied that we have found our fence company."

Ryan and company did an excellent job. I would consider tonly chis a tough job as it required following a very old, very overgrown fence line, putting in completely new fence posts and wire. They cleared the area nicely, cutting what they had to. Ryan did a great job tying into the old fence where he could and added metal posts to strengthen the connection. Ryan further restraightened and reinforced where he needed to with part of the old fence line that was still good. "I had over 400 linear feet of ranch fence installed. One double wide drive in gate, three walking gates and an iron breeze way gate were also made and installed, along with some touch welding.
